STAFF ACCOUNTANT

JOB TITLE: STAFF ACCOUNTANT

REPORTS TO: Controller

EXEMPT/NON-EXEMPT: Non-Exempt

SUMMARY: The Staff Accountant is an integral member of professional and administrative support person(s) in the Finance Department. The Staff Accountant is responsible for the preparation and maintenance of financial records

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Processes accounts payable transactions- entry/import through payment, validates account distribution, payment support
  • Performs monthly bank account reconciliations for all accounts, researching and clearing outstanding items within no more than 30 days.
  • Facilitate payment of vendors, which may include verification of federal ID numbers and resolving discrepancies
  • Coordinates the setup and approval of ACH/wire for loan funding.
  • Maintain a large number of vendor accounts while staying in compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Process builder draws
  • Process journal entries with maintaining appropriate backup attached
  • Perform data entry associated with accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Generate reports detailing accounts payable status.
  • Assists with all audit requests
  • Follow up on outstanding records related to vendors and customers
  • Maintain general ledgers
  • Prepares Form 1099-Misc and 1099-NEC for review by Controller and CEO, and files prior to the federal filing deadline.
  • Track and reconcile simple and complex transactions
  • Other related duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in accounting and financial reporting.
  • Must be able to learn other accounting software systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Ability to maintain confidential and meticulous records
  • High school diploma required; Business or Accounting degree preferred
  • 1-2 years or more of related experience required
  • Certified Accounts Payable Professional (CAPP) certification preferred
