LOAN PROCESSOR
JOB TITLE: LOAN PROCESSOR
REPORTS TO: Processing Manager
EXEMPT/NON-EXEMPT: Non-Exempt
LOCATION: McAllen, TX
SUMMARY: This position will be responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate processing of all loans originated by our loan officers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Core duties and responsibilities include the following:
- Prepares mortgage loan information and application for presentation to the underwriter.
- Collects from borrowers, documents about income, employment, monthly bills, bank balances and anything credit and debt related.
- Makes sure all proper documentation is included, that all numbers are calculated correctly and double checked, and that the loan file is stacked in the proper order according to the company’s stacking order checklist.
- Verifies credit report, fraud guard check and employer to verify accuracy of information.
- Provides customer service to all internal personnel, vendors and external customers.
- Verifies application data is complete and meets established standards and related disclosures meet regulatory compliance.
- Prepares and distributes processing pipeline reports to all parties for updates.
- Collects property related information to include for underwriting submission which includes appraisal reports, purchase contracts, title commitments and various title related documents.
- Coordinates, obtains and reviews pre-closing conditions, including surveys, title work and hazard insurance requirements.
- Inputs all data into the appropriate software applications.
- Ensures accuracy of data for each loan.
- Assists with training of new staff.
- Adheres to all applicable compliance regulations, including Bank Secrecy Act , Truth in Lending Act, Equal Credit Opportunity Act, Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, Fair Lending, Safe Act, Right to Financial Privacy.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or GED; one year certificate from college or technical school a plus
- 1-5 years of recent processing experience in the mortgage industry.
- Proficiency in conventional, FHA and VA loans; experience with CHFA, USDA and 203k is a plus
- Basic understanding of loan processing and closing policies, procedures, documents, underwriting requirements, governmental and agency requirements, terminology and automated processing systems
- Basic understanding of credit policies and approval processes
- Computer proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office Suite
